Gas and Wassermesser AG (GWF) located in Lucerne (Switzerland) produces metering systems for gas, water and energy. The focus of GWF is to transform the business into a supplier of complete systems for metering and decoder technology. In parallel the percentage of procured components is growing and the response time to the customer becomes a more challenging competitive factor.
The objective of GWF was to replace the legacy ERP system. It was supposed to lay the foundation for realizing planned process improvements represented within an ERP system. GWF decided to carry out the process analysis and software selection in cooperation with conmotion GmbH, because the process should be transparent, independent and structured.
Based on the analysis of the actual business processes a model of the future situation for business processes and company organization has been established. This concept concentrates on the realization of business goals and always keeps in mind to implement lean as well as effective and efficient business processes.
The blue print of the future state has been created and discussed among the management before being adopted as the direction the company intends to go to. The now increased transparency generates benefits, because the improvement can start directly. ‘In addition we have obtained lots of hints and proposals about how to design business processes more efficiently and how to reengineer them’, Bruno Amrein, head of IT, states.
